The OMUG was formed for preaching in some areas in the city of Tamale. In some years later after its formation, The Zaitun Center was formed under its auspices to patronize issues relating to education and charitable services in rural and urban areas

Sheikh Muhammad Baba Gbetobu, said his effort was to offer Dagbani speakers the opportunity to read and understand the Holy Book in their own language without any difficulty.
